Genesis has unwrapped its second SUV, the GV70. The mid-size crossover slots below the GV80, bringing the luxury marque’s current offering to a total of five models including the G70 medium sedan, G80 large sedan, G90 full size sedan and the GV80 crossover.
As the first medium SUV model produced by Genesis, the GV70 adopts the brand’s design identity, featuring a Crest Grille and two-lined Quad Lamps. The most distinctive styling feature of the GV70 is none other than the coupe-like roofline, which ends with the dropping chrome line of the C-pillar.
Inside, the interior emphasises wide space and comfort, with the slim air vent and thin chrome line cutting through to the doors to surround the driver and amplify the interior’s spaciousness.
The optional Sport Package offers another level of athleticism, with the exterior boasting a dark chrome mesh grille design, large circular mufflers, a body-coloured diffuser, and 19- and 21-inch Sport-exclusive wheels.
The interior design of the GV70 Sport Package also emphasises dynamic elements with exclusive interior colours, an exclusive steering wheel, and optional carbon fibre details on the console and door.
The GV70 line-up is available in three powertrains, with the range kicking off with the 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol developing 280kW and 530Nm. The 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel comes in next with 155kW and 441Nm. Topping of the range is the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 rated at 280kW and 530Nm.
All engines drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission, with rear or all-wheel drive available.
Comprehensive safety features standard across the GV70 range include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Forward Attention Warning (FAW), Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) and Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II).
The new Genesis GV70 will launch in Australia in the first half of 2021. The Australian model line-up and specification will be announced closer to launch.
