The Ferrari Portofino is already a stunning car straight out of the factory but that doesn’t stop Mansory from tinkering with the supercar, and we must say, the result is extraordinary.

Starting with the styling, the German company is has reworked the Portofino’s entire retractable hardtop, which is now made of dark forged carbon. The result is a lighter roof than the stock model, enhancing the car’s centre of gravity even further.

The same lightweight material is also used for the front spoiler lip, bonnet air vents, side skirts, side vents and mirror caps. If you spotted more of the material elsewhere on the car, well done, as the pillars, discreet bootlid spoiler and the prominent diffuser that is part of the rear apron are all made of the stuff.

Completing the exterior makeover is a set of lightweight forged wheel that follow the company’s YT.5 design first used on the F8 Tributo-based F8XX. They measure 21 inches at the front, and 22 inches at the rear and wrapped in high-performance tyres.

Inside, the all black interior is contrasted with body-coloured trims, including the air vents and infotainment screen surrounds, seat pipping, and control knobs, while the three buttons to control the dual-clutch transmission get colours from the Italian flag – green, white and red.

Mansory has also rebranded the steering wheel boss and floor mats with their own brand.

The stunning looks are matched with a tweaked 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 with a reworked engine management system and exhaust system. The result is a better soundtrack along with 530kW of power and 890Nm of torque, up from 441kW and 760Nm.

Mansory claims their Portofino will complete the century sprint in 3.0 seconds en route to a top speed of 334km/h. For reference, the stock model accomplishes the same feat in 3.5 seconds and 320km/h.

The Ferrari has introduced a droptop variant of the SF90 Stradale, making it the company’s first plug-in hybrid spider.

Known officially as the SF90 Spider, it features the same heavily electrified powertrain as the Stradale – combining a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 574kW with three electric motors that puts out an additional 162kW for a mighty combined output of 736kW and 900Nm of torque.

Power is channeled to all four wheels via Ferrari’s latest eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, enough to propel the SF90 Spider from 0-100km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds. 0-200km/h comes in at a breathtaking 7 seconds, while top speed is rated at 340km/h.

That’s despite a weight penalty of 100kg compared to the fixed-roof model’s 1,570kg kerb weight due to the obligatory chassis reinforcements and the roof mechanism.

The retractable hardtop also sacrifices 100 litres of space when folded away and comes in at 40kg lighter than a conventional retractable hardtop thanks to its aluminium construction. It takes just 14 seconds to fold away and also comes with an adjustable electric rear window.

Besides the different roof, Ferrari says the Spider’s cockpit has been shifted forward along with a greater raked windscreen compared to the Stradale. Its roof has also been lowered by 20mm, while the A-pillars are made thinner.

Inside, the cabin remains unchanged with the same 16-inch curved high-definition digital instrument cluster and touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel and dashboard.

Customers can also order the optional Assetto Fiorano pack for their SF90 Spider, which brings a set of Multimatic dampers optimised for track use, a 21kg weight reduction courtesy of carbon fibre and titanium throughout the car, a carbon fibre rear spoiler and stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. Ferrari also offers a two-tone livery with the Assetto Fiorano pack.

Ferrari has unveiled its newest GT, the Roma. Named after Italy’s iconic capital city, the Roma is mid-front engined 2+2 coupe with seating for four.

Positioned between the Portofino and 812 Superfast, the Roma is powered by a derivative of the 3.9-litre twin turbo V8 engine that first debut in the 488 GTB. In the Roma, the V8 produces 456kW of power at 5750-7500rpm, accompanied with 760Nm of torque between 3000-5750rpm.

Driving the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual clutch transmission first used in the SF90 Stradale, the grand coupe is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and on to 200km/h in 9.3 seconds. Top speed is rated at 320km/h.

Ferrari claims the Roma represents the pinnacle of performance in the GT segment, delivering the finesse and refinement that brings the concept of “la Dolce Vita” (the new, sweet life) right up to date.

There is no word on price at this stage, but expect the Ferrari Roma to cost about the same as its rivals, namely the Porsche 911 Turbo, Aston Martin DB11 and McLaren GT.

Ferrari has unveiled the 812 Superfast’s topless sibling, the 812 GTS which will enter production as a series production model.

Presented at an exclusive event last week, the GTS is essentially a twin of the Superfast under the skin, sharing its naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 producing 580kW at 8,500rpm and 718Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, making it the most powerful series-production drop-top in the world.

Ferrari claims the GTS will do 0-100km/h in less than 3.0 seconds, 0-200km/h in 8.3 seconds and a capable of reaching a top speed of 340km/h.

Like all modern drop-top Ferraris, the GTS comes equipped with a folding hard top that opens or closes in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45km/h. The car also comes with an electrically operated rear screen that acts as a wind buffer when the roof is down. It can also be lowered when the roof is up to let me the glorious V12 soundtrack from behind.

To accommodate the hard top, the 812 GTS gains a restyled rear end featuring two buttresses and a new tonneau cover and luggage compartment. To compensate for the deletion of the Superfast’s aero by-pass above the rear fenders, the GTS’s rear diffuser has also been reshaped and gets an additional flap.

Other aero highlights include two small L-shaped flaps on the upper corners of the windscreen to help reduce turbulence and aerodynamic noise for a quieter cabin at high speeds.

Dutch coachbuilder Vandenbrink Design has unveiled a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti it has transformed into a shooting brake, with the company prepared to do a limited run of similar builds if the customer demand is there.

While the company first penned the unique redesign for the 612 all the way back in 2008, it wasn’t until recently that one well-heeled customer wanted them to make that rendering into the real deal.

Often critiqued at the time of its launch for its somewhat questionable looks, the Vandenbrink treatment truly transforms the 612 Scaglietti into something actually rather handsome, with its new rump making it look to be something of a potential precursor to cars like the FF and current GTC4Lusso.

Certainly, the execution looks to be Ferrari factory quality, as the longer roofline and big boot fit surprisingly well with the existing parts of the 612’s design, slotting nicely between those prominent rear haunches.

On the inside it looks like it was always meant to be this way as well, with the tan leather-lined boot clearly resembling the sort of thing you’d expect to see there if Ferrari itself had made this from the get-go.

Worth noting, however, is that Vandenbrink has left all the oily bits alone, meaning this long-roof 612 has the same 5.75-litre naturally aspirated V12 under the bonnet as any other example, along with the more popular ‘F1’ automated manual transmission, meaning carryover outputs of 397kW and 588Nm and a likely similar 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds to that of the original coupé.

Vandenbrink is clearly proud of what it has created, given the company is truly putting their own name on it by not simply calling it a converted 612, but instead making it stand alone as the Vandenbrink Shooting Brake.

Currently, the example you see in the pictures here – which, for those in or visiting the Netherlands, is currently on display at the Classic Youngtimers Consultancy in Uden – is the only one in existance. It’s up for sale, too, with the car’s web listing indicating and asking price of €300,000, which translates to just under $489,000 Australian.

However, Vandenbrink will happily build a limited run of subsequent examples for customers who so desire one of their own, and you can expect any further examples to sport different and potentially very niche touches as in the company’s press release, it mentions that “each Shooting Brake will hereby be ‘designed to purpose’, with features for specific use like falconry, racing, and equine sports.”

Ferrari has lifted the lid on not only its first plug-in hybrid, but also its most powerful road car yet – the SF90 Stradale – which attempts to bridge the gap between its screaming petrol-powered past and its electrified future.

Positioned stylistically as an evolution of the 488 and F8 Tributo’s design language, the SF90 will take the place of the LaFerrari as the company’s hybrid flagship and most powerful model.

However, unlike the LaFerrari, which was sold exclusively to Ferrari’s most highly-regarded and long-standing customers, the SF90 Stradale will be available to anyone who can pony up the cash for it.

At the heart of the SF90 is the company’s now-familiar 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 – albeit sporting new injectors and redesigned combustion chambers – which, in this guise, churns out 573kW and 800Nm, which is channeled to the rear wheels via a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

But wait, there’s more – an additional electric motor driving the rear wheels and a pair of them driving the front wheels, giving the SF90 all-wheel drive, add an extra 162kW into the mix, taking its combined power output up to a whopping 735kW.

Thanks not only to the power but to its transmission and all-wheel drive situation as well, the SF90 Stradale will supposedly launch itself from 0-100km/h in a stomach-churning 2.5 seconds, before pushing on to a top speed of 340km/h.

The SF90’s electric motors mean it can also be driven silently on electric power alone for up to 25km when fully charged at speeds up to 135km/h.

To keep the overall weight of the SF90 down due to the natural increases thanks to its heavy battery packs, numerous weight-saving measures have been taken. The new gearbox is 10kg lighter due to not having a reverse gear, instead using the electric motors to back it up, while the Ferrari-first mixed-material carbon-fibre and light alloy space frame construction ensures it tips the scales at just 1570kg.

Additionally, a lightweight version of the SF90 will go on sale alongside the standard model from the get-go. Dubbed the Assetto Fiorano, it will sport a more aggressive aero package, additional carbon-fibre bodywork including the doors and underbody, multimatic shock absorbers, and a titanium exhaust to see it shed a further 30kg.

Pulling the SF90 Stradale to a stop are a set of fly-by-wire Brembo brakes, with 398mm discs up front and 360mm discs in the rear, which are enough to see it shave two metres off the LaFerrari’s 100-0km/h stopping distance.

If you’re wondering about the origins of the name, Ferrari is looking to their history with this one as it commemorates the 90th anniversary of the company’s Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team. Perhaps that’s why it also adopts some F1 tech in the way of an adjustable DRS rear wing to reduce drag when retracted but add as much as 390kg of downforce when deployed.

Ferrari, perhaps unusually, isn’t looking to the past with who its hoping to buy the SF90 Stradale, however. With the company’s CEO Louis Camilleri noting at the SF90’s launch that around 65 per cent of all Ferrari’s sold are to existing customers, 40 per cent of whom own more than just the one, the SF90 is aimed at attracting new customers to the prancing horse brand by way of its EV push.

Regardless, those customers will need to have deep pockets to cop one of these. Official pricing is yet to be announced, but the company has noted it will be positioned between the 812 Superfast and the LaFerrari. As such, you can expect a starting price of around A$1.5 million.

Under the N-Largo label, Novitec develops and produces spectacular widebody versions for the world’s most thrilling supercars. The latest creation of the German aerodynamic specialist is the elaborate N-Largo widebody transformation for the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

The carbon fibre body kit which consists of new front and rear bumpers, widen fenders, restyled bonnet, deeper rear diffuser and a rear spoiler, not only adds 14 centimeters to the width of the Italian sports car, but also captivates with its aerodynamic efficiency. The larger fender wells offer space for Novitec NF 10 NL lightweight forged wheels, which thanks to their different diameters of 21 and 22 inches on the front and rear axle emphasize the wedge shape of the super sports car.

Further features include a revised suspension with Front Lift system and a performance upgrade for the Ferrari V12 to 618 kW / 840 hp and 718Nm of torque, enough to launch the exclusive two-seater from rest to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds while raising the top speed to 345 km/h.

Novitec will also tailor the cockpit in every detail to the N-Largo owner’s preferences upon request. The tuner offers a wide variety of leather and Alcantara upholstery in just about any colour the customer wants. And that includes the wild purple and black theme of the car featured here.

Ferrari has unveiled what it is claiming to be its ‘most extreme one-off’ build for a customer – the hardcore, track-ready P80/C.

Built from an idea first conceived back in 2015, the P80/C was created by using the chassis from one of Ferrari’s 488 GT3 cars, which had its wheelbase lengthened by 50mm – ensuring that this is more than your average coach-building exercise, and allowing Ferrari to go as mad as they pleased.

Although futuristic in its styling, the inspiration for its curvy bodywork was drawn from some of Ferrari’s past track and road models – specifically, the 330 P3/P4, the Dino 206 S, and the 350 Can Am from back in the 1960s.

Ferrari claims the design is five per cent more aerodynamic than the base GT3 – which Ferrari notes “is required to make full use of the unrestricted engine,” for which no exact power outputs have been cited – thanks to a number of tricks such as a unique front splitter and redesigned rear splitter, the designs of which are not restricted by FIA regulations.

Being a track-only build, the front and rear lights are hidden inside slim slits in the bodywork as no regulations apply to them either, allowing Ferrari to more accurately replicate the shape of the front wings of the cars it draws inspiration from.

While the configuration pictured here is for the track, the car has been designed to be paraded around at concourse events too, meaning that the rear wing can be pulled off and the lightened 18-inch wheels can be replaced with flashier 21-inch rims instead.

On the inside, its interior is largely similar to that of the 488 GT3 donor car, with a full roll cage, FIA-approved bucket seats clad in blue suede with racing harnesses, a racing steering wheel, and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Just this one example will be built, and there’s a very good chance you won’t have another opportunity to see it again, but you can check out this full 12-minute documentary on it, along with the gallery of shots of this beauty below.

It isn’t everyday we get to see the ‘royalty’ of motorsport including David Brabham, Ivan Capelli, Pierluigi Martini, Craig Lowndes, Tim Slade and Alister McRae get together to drive some of the most desirable machines ever made but that’s what the Adelaide Motorsport Festival’s “Race to the City 2018” has done.

The ten-minute short film not only brought together some of the most talented drivers of our time, but also an ensemble of exotic cars in the race into Adelaide, where the annual motorsport festival is held.

The film begins in Imola Italy where Capelli and Martini visited the Senna Memorial to reminisce the time they raced together in Adelaide, before Capelli got a call from the Adelaide Motorsport Festival asking if he was coming to Adelaide.

The former F1 driver, of course, accepted the invitation and asked his team to prepare his Leyton House Formula One car to take to Adelaide.

Next to get a call was Brabham, who was testing his Aussie-built BT62 at The Bend (already dubbed the Nürburgring of Australia) before piloting his track machine onto the streets of South Australia and racing towards Adelaide.

Meanwhile, Craigs Lowndes was supposed to pick up his LaFerrari for the race but sent Tim Slade to pick the supercar up instead, as he was signing autograph at a Holden dealership.

Eventually all the drivers were racing towards the city in their speedy machines like you’ve never seen before. Check out the video below to see for yourself.

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a two day event that starts on the 1 December.

Ferrari is officially joining the crossover race with its upcoming Purosangue (Italian for thoroughbred), which is set to arrive towards the end of 2022. Just don’t call it an SUV.

“That word, I do not want to hear it in the same phrase as Ferrari,” new Ferrari boss, Louis Carey Camilleri said when announcing the model during the Capital Markets Day. While preferring to call it anything but, Camilleri did reveal a few juicy details about the Purosange SUV (!!).

First up, it will be offered with a traditional internal combustion engine along with a hybrid setup and all-wheel drive.

On the styling front, as well as being the brand’s first ever vehicle with a five-door body, it will feature a coupe-inspired silhouette and won’t be as big as the competing Lamborghini Urus.

The Purosange will sit on Ferrari’s new Front Mid Engine Architecture, with its front-mounted engine sitting behind the wheels, while a dual-clutch transmission is mounted at the rear to optimise weight distribution and low centre of gravity.

According to Camilleri, former chairman and CEO, Sergio Marchionne pushed for the Purosangue due to changing customer tastes, especially in burgeoning China. He also believed it could boost the company’s profit and takes its annual sales volume to above 10,000 cars a year for the first time.

Camilleri went on to admit he was initially skeptical about Ferrari entering the crossover segment but is not convinced after seeing the design sketches.
