2016 Infiniti Q70 Pricing and Specs

Luxury automaker, Infiniti has released official Australian pricing and specifications for their 2016 Q70 premium sedan. The latest Q70 features a fresh new exterior, additional standard equipment and carry-over prices. This refreshed model aims to target an important segment in Australia’s premium vehicle market.

The exterior takes on a more dramatic design, refined lines create a more upscale and elegant body. Those with a keen eye will notice the new LED based headlights; a signature component from Infinity. The distinctive headlights accentuate the new double arch grille, which now takes on a more 3D look due to the elaborate detail of the high-quality waved mesh finish and chrome surround. The new front bumper also integrates a set of fog lights, giving the Q70 a dignified presence on road.

From the front, a strong body line rises from the grille, flowing through the side of the body like a wave and blending into the shape of the new rear LED combination lights, forming a compelling profile that highlights the Q70’s sporty stance.

At the rear, the redesigned tail lights create a horizontal flow in motion while the high-quality lighting signature evokes a fresh and classy image. The top line of the boot lid has been flattened while the rear bumper has been slimmed down to create a longer and lower visual impression, further emphasizing the premium sedan’s sporty and powerful styling. The chrome rear finisher adds a touch of class to the entire rear view.

The interior continues to be built with high-quality materials such as handcrafted wood accents and custom leather appointments, meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, as well as user-centred technologies.

The instrument panel consists of Fine Vision gauges and a seven-inch full colour vehicle information display, while the driver and front passenger’s seats are leather, heated, and feature 10-way power adjustment, including two-way lumbar support.

Infiniti engineers have added noise insulation materials, increased the sealing, and stiffened the wheels, resulting in a reduction of road noise on urban roads.

The Q70’s boot capacity is 500 litres (350 litres for the Hybrid version) and an auto-close boot lid with soft-closing action is fitted.

Standard across the Q70, is now an eight-inch high-resolution touch screen (infotainment).

In the GT model grade, a Bose Premium sound system with 10 speakers is fitted, which is new for the entry-grade Q70. The 30GB HDD navigation system comes with RDS Traffic Message Control (TMC) and the 1CD/DVD reader is compatible with MP3, WMA and DivX formats. There is also a 10GB music box to store albums and songs.

The range-leading Q70 S Premium is fitted with a Bose Premium Sound System which comprises the Bose® Studio Surround sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 16 speakers, two of which are mounted in the shoulders of each front seat.

Contributing to the cultivated in-car atmosphere of the Q70 S Premium is the Active Noise Control feature, which monitors cabin noise levels and generates “cancelling” sound from four door speakers to reduce noise, so it’s easier to hold conversations in the car or to better enjoy the music.

Two engine choices are available on the Q70. The first being a 3.7-litre petrol V6, the second is a 3.5-litre petrol hybrid V6.

The 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine, with Variable Valve Event & Lift technologoy combines hydraulically-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response.

The refined 3.7-litre aluminium-alloy DOHC 24-valve V6 is rated at 235 kW @ 7,000 rpm and 360 Nm of torque @ 5,200 rpm.

The 0-100km/h time for the Q70 fitted with the 3.7-litre petrol V6 is a claimed 6.2 seconds.

The 3.5-litre Petrol Hybrid V6 combines a 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC V6 and compact laminated lithium-ion battery design with an innovative one-motor/two-clutch motor control. The system’s V6 is rated at 225 kW @ 6,800 rpm and 350 Nm of torque @ 5,000 rpm, while the advanced 50 kW electric motor develops an impressive 290 Nm of torque. Infiniti’s approach to petrol-electric hybrids is to use the electric motor to boost performance and power, much like how a traditional supercharger would function. This is said to give the Q70 an immediate surge of torque in the low revs before the 3.5-litre V6 kicks in to push the overall power output to 268 kW.

The Q70 GT Premium Hybrid travels from 0-100km/h in a claimed 5.3 seconds.

Both engines are matched to an advanced seven-speed automatic transmission that features manual mode, which allows for sportier shifts during spirited driving. Solid magnesium paddle shifters are also fitted to the range-leading Q70 S Premium.

Infinity place maximum value on integral safety. Central to their focus is the Infiniti Safety Shield, an approach to safety that offers layered technologies to help provide safety and convenience by monitoring conditions, helping drivers avoid a collision, and helping protect vehicle occupants if one occurs. The Infiniti Safety Shield is fitted to the Q70 S Premium and GT Premium model grades and comprises the following features, six of which are new in the 2016 Q70.
