Mitsubishi has given its Pajero Sport an update for MY2020, bringing improved features as well as a new digital instrument display.
On the aesthetic front, the 2020 Pajero Sport adopts an evolution of Mitsubishi’s signature ‘Dynamic Shield’ front fascia, with emphasise on giving the SUV a wider look. There is also more chrome highlight and a deeper chin to add a touch of sophistication and sportiness. What’s less obvious is the higher bonnet that lends a more imposing stance.
Around the back, the rear bumper has received a customary revamp that includes an integrated diffuser, while the LED taillights sport slightly revised light signature. Rounding out the makeover is a set of fresh alloy wheels.
Inside, the interior is said to offer more quality and comfort, thanks to a refreshed centre console, soft padded door handles. There’s also new AC power outlet on the rear passenger console, and storage tray that sits under the floor console.
However, the highlight of the rejigged interior is no doubt the new 8-inch fully digital instrument cluster, which is complemented by an 8-inch Smartphone-Link Display Audio (SDA).
An optional Mitsubishi Remote Control is also on offer. When paired with a smartphone app, it allows the driver to lock and unlock the doors using their smartphone, including the new power tailgate.
The MY2020 model has also been enhanced with Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) functions.
Under the bonnet, the updated model continues to be powered by the 2.4-litre MIVEC four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It generates 133kW of power and 430Nm of torque, directed at all four wheels via the same Super-Select 4WD-II system that now offers a new off-road mode selected from a newly designed switch.
Like its predecessor, the 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be built at the brand’s Laem Chabang plant in Thailand and exported to approximately 90 countries. It is expected to launch in Australia in early 2020.
