The Isuzu D-Max is one of the most capable utes in the segment, having proven itself in our recent review. Straight from the factory, it comes all geared up to tackle the bush, yet impresses in everyday comfort. But for those wanting more, it doesn’t stop here.
Four-wheel-drive tuner Arctic Trucks is taking the D-Max up a level with the D-Max AT35 package. The ute receives a reinforced chassis in the form of an adjustable Bilstein Performance Suspension, offering a level of customisability to suit a range of terrain and surfaces.
But the most prominent mod is no doubt the huge 35 inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 off-road tyres, wrapping matt black 17 x 10 inch double-spoke rims. The heavy duty all terrain tyres ensure unrivalled off-road prowess, without sacrificing on-road comfort.
And of course, no 4×4 treatment is complete without some wide fenders. The wheel arch extensions that Arctic Truck has fitted to the D-Max are some of the beefiest we have seen on a ute. They integrate neatly with the existing fenders, bridged by suitably matching Arctic side steps.
The Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine putting out 140kW at 3,600rpm, and 450Nm at 1,600-2,600rpm. It’s matched with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
