Skoda has unveiled its updated MY17 Octavia vRS, complete with a new front fascia, revised rear end and a bump up in power for the 2.0 TSI petrol engine.
Like the rest of the updated Octavia range, the vRS sports a new front section with a wider radiator grille, which has been extended with additional headlamps featuring a ‘crystalline’ look, and an even wider lower air intake in the bumper. The car now gets full-LED headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System.
At the back, the rear receives a black diffuser and broad red reflector lamp above, while the taillights and license plate lights are now LED.
Inside, the sports seats are now also available in Alcantara as an option with ambient lighting now coming in as standard. The multi-function sports steering wheel is wrapped in perforated leather.
Under the mildly tweaked sheet metal, the car’s 2.0-litre TSI engine now produces 169kW of power – an increase of 7kW – while torque remains unchanged at 350Nm from 1,500 to 4,600rpm. Skoda says it will sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds.
The 2.0 TDI vRS’ diesel engine remains unchanged with an output of 135kW and 380Nm of torque from 1,750rpm but is now available as both front- and all-wheel drive. It will hit 100km/h from a standstill in a claimed 7.9 seconds.
The TSI petrol is offered with either a 6-speed manual or DSG, while the TDI comes exclusively with a 6-speed DSG.
Technology wise, Trailer Assist, Blind Spot Detect and Rear Traffic Alert are now on offer.
The updated MY17 Skoda Octavia vRS is available in both sedan and wagon body style and is expected to arrive in Australia in the second half of next year.
