Renault Megane R.S. Cup joins range from sub-$50k

Renault Australia has today announced an updated Megane R.S. range, headlined by the addition of a sportier Cup chassis model available in either a six-speed manual gearbox or dual clutch (EDC) automatic transmission.

The streamlined 2019 Megane R.S. range is now made up of the Megane R.S Turbo Sport (Manual and EDC) and the Megane R.S. Turbo Cup (Manual and EDC).

In addition, Bose audio system and Alcantara Leather are now standard on the Sport EDC, Cup Manual and Cup EDC models.

Further to this the full Megane R.S. range now offers a 5 year unlimited kilometre warranty as standard across the range.

Designed for the enthusiast, the Renault Megane R.S. Sport chassis receives revised springs, dampers and bump stops – it is 10 per cent stiffer than the Sport chassis.

Like the Megane R.S. Sport, the Cup offers a whole host of Renault Sport technology including Renault’s 4CONTROL four-wheel steer, R.S. Monitor to visualise data, and R.S. Drive Race Mode. 

The EDC transmission also receives Multi-Change Down and Launch Control. Multi-Change Down drops several gears under braking by pressing and holding the left paddle. The best gear is then selected to exit the corner as efficiently as possible. Launch Control is available in Sport and Race modes when the clutch and turbo are preloaded, enabling an optimum standing start. When in Sport mode, traction control provides the driver with additional support.

Standard features in the Megane R.S. Cup include MULTI-SENSE driving modes, 8.7-inch portrait touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, handsfree keycard with automatic locking and welcome function, Easy Park Assist handsfree parking and heated folding electric door mirrors.

On the safety front, the French hot hatch is equipped with Hill Start Assist, ESC, ABS, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), distance warning and automatic emergency braking (AEBS).
