This Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet by Hofele was due to be unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show but due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent cancellation of the event, Hofele did the next best thing – unveiling it online.
Dressed in striking ‘Royal Peacock Blue’ metallic paint, the car features a number of cosmetic changes, including plenty of chrome on the reworked front bumper, as well as along the sides, spanning all the way from the front fenders to the rear bumper.
Hofele has also swapped the Mercedes grille with its own that comes with vertical slats similar to those on modern AMGs.
Around the back, the rear bumper incorporates gloss black accents and a three-fin diffuser sandwiched by a pair twin exhaust pipes on each side.
Further differentiating the car from regular E53s are the bonnet centre line trim, chrome element on the boot, as well as bespoke mirror caps, while a set of turbine forged 21-inch alloy wheels gives the drop-top a distinctively Maybach vibe.
Inside, the interior has also been modified with high quality materials and finished in sports ‘Magnolia’ Nappa leather contrasted by the ‘Royal Blue’ trim on the dash top, steering wheel, seat piping, door cards and other elements. For an extra dose of exclusivity, the cabin also features lamb’s wool floor mats.
Under the bonnet, the E53’s powertrain remained untouched, meaning the same 320kW/520Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six married to a 16kW/250Nm 48V mild-hybrid system that enables the E53 to sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds before topping out at 250km/h.
While no pricing has been announced, we understand Hofele is interested in finding a buyer for this one-off E53.
