Lamborghini unveils one-off, road-legal SC18 track car

Meet the Lamborghini SC18, a one-off, road-legal track weapon built by the Italian supercar maker’s motorsport division, Lamborghini Squadra Corse.

Based on an Aventador, the SC18 was designed in synergy with the customer and Centre Stile Lamborghini, and is set to pave the way for further personalised development projects for well-heeled motorsport customers under the Squadra Corse brand.

Compared to the regular model, the SC18 gains a more prominent aero kit, including massive air intakes inspired by those on the Huracan GT3 EVO, while its rear fins, fenders and airscoops are borrowed from the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO.

As with most track-focused racers, there’s a towering carbon-fibre rear wing with three built-in mechanical adjustments that generates the required level of downforce at any speed.

The car also feature bespoke taillights which span almost the entire width of car, broken only to accommodate the Lamborghini script in the middle.

Ahead of the rear wing is a carbon fibre engine cover with twelve vents to improve heat exchange and cool the supercar’s monstrous V12 engine.

Speaking of which, the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 churns out a muscular 574kW at 8,500rpm and a stout 720Nm of torque at 6,750rpm – the same as an Aventador SVJ. Power is channeled to all four wheels via an ISR-optimised (Independent Shifting Rod) seven-speed gearbox.

The SC18 is also equipped with a special exhaust system promising to elevate aural excitement even further.

To reduce weight, the car’s body is made out of carbon fibre, while to fulfill its track-ready brief, the SC18 rolls on single-nut wheels measuring 20-inch up front and 21-inch at the rear, shod with specially-developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. The car sits just 109mm off the ground and there’s also a special telemetry system to measure the car’s performance on track.

Outside, the SC18 is finished in a Grigio Daytona paint work matched with red highlights, while the interior features black Nero Ade Alcantara with red Rosso All cross-stitching.
