Making sure your virtual machines are running at the peak performance...
Andrew Connell [MVP MCMS]
writes "Do you work with virtual machines? How about over a long period of time? You’ll know that over time, they seem to slow down under heavy use. Why is that? There are plenty of reasons, some are specific to virtual environments, some are more general. This post will focus only on the virtual aspects… general aspects are things like installing tons of beta software, a lot of apps that run in the background or on startup, etc.."

Be gone that annoying beep in Virtual Server 2005 R2!
Michael Ruminer
writes "It came up on an internal company discussion thread on how to get rid of the annoying beep from Virtual Server 2005 R2. You know the beeps. The ones that no matter the settings for your speakers (muted, headphones on etc.) comes out of the computer when a virtual machine running under Virtual Server has an important message to post.
Thanks to a co-worker, Bruce Tank, for telling us all how to get rid of it. These are his directions copy and pasted. They worked perfectly!

Virtual PC vs Virtual Server
Bil Simser
writes "I've been using Virtual PC for awhile and like it. For a short time, I had VS running and it was okay. I did a quick check and reinstalled it and tried out a few things to convince myself it was worth it. I mean, if you're going to be a virtual as I am (which is everything virtual, including myself sometimes) then having a single tool would be nice. The great thing about Virtual Server is that it can read VPC hard disk images and, in some cases, read the VMC files as well so setup was a snap...

Pair-programming with Virtual Server
Daniel Cazzulino
writes "A while back, Peter blogged about pair programming with Virtual Server. The two of us have been pairing quite a bit lately, and it went really great. I'm starting to love it..."
