The clickonce demo you ran today showed that you could include sql 2005 express edition as a required resource and have clickonce install it.

I have not installed Express edition anywhere, but past installations of sql that I have done ask for things like instance name, authentication mode (sql, windows, mixed), etc.

Since these are questions I would not normally want an end user answering, I was curious as to whether the sql express 2005 install under ClickOnce was silent or if it asked the end user these questions.

I assume if it asks the questions, a custom install script could be generated to insure a silent installation.

At the demo you mentioned that sys admins can supress privilege elevation requests from an application. What happens to the request if this is done, and what impact does that have on the app?
Also if possible a description of the steps necessary to implement the suppression? Most IT sys admins I see out in the field would not know this was possible and if it was turned on, would not know how to turn it off.

I attended a webcast today where the person would address questions after every slide or so.  I was thinking you might want to do that also.  It would allow you to interact with us during the presentation in addition to on here.

Being able to ask a question about the demo or something else and get a quicker response as opposed to waiting until the end fo the presentation, would be very helpful in my mind.

1) jack, Robert Walters has an article that discusses embedding SQL Express into custom applications - http://msdn.microsoft.com/sql/express/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnsse/html/emsqlexcustapp.asp#emsqlexcustapp_topic4.  I emailed him your specific question, which does not appear to be answered in the article, and will post as soon as I hear a reply.

2) Matt, I recommend reading Brian Noyes's article on Configuring ClickOnce Trusted Publishers - http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwinforms/html/clickoncetrustpub.asp.  There is a set of registry keys with which you can define the behavior of the application upon deployment to the target machine (about 1/2 down the page).

3) Tony, I appreciate the feedback.  Conveniently, the next webcast will be focusing conceptually on upgrade and migration, so I will remain in slides and try out the questions/slide approach.  Will you do me the service of making sure that I keep track of time?  That has always been my biggest concern when I try taking questions throughout the session.
